Investment opportunities in Rwanda' s industial sector

In August 2021, Ministry of Trade and Industry Rwanda has presented the status of Industrial Parks of Rwanda

Industrial Sector of Rwanda contributes 19% to the National Domestic Product (GDP/2020) against the 21.7% targeted by National Strategy for Transformation  (NST1). The major industries available in Rwanda are classifies into three subsectors: Agro processing, Construction materials and Light industries.  The vision of Rwanda's industrial sector is to promote a competitive industrial that will contribute towards transformation of Rwanda into an upper middle-income country by 2035 and a high-income country by 2050.

  • Manufacturing of construction materials such as metal structures, househouse glasses, Tiles, ect,...
  • Manufacturing of home appliances, textile, Pharma industies, glass packaging, medical equipment and industrial machinery
  • Manufacturing of vehicles and spare parts, IT and electronic equipment;
  • Mineral exploration and processing

Fiscal incentives for investors in Rwanda's industrial sector

  • 7 year corporate income tax holiday for large project (50 million USD)
  • 5 year corporate income tax for developers of industrial parks and exemption of all domestic taxes
  • Guaranteed repatriation of capital and assets
  • Subsidized and preferential electricity tariff
  • Tax exemption on raw materials and capital equipment
  • Preferential corporate income tax of 0% for International Companies that establishes HQs in Rwanda with 10 million USD invested in Rwanda
  • 50% reduction preferential corporate  income tax for investors exporting at least 50% of total production, manufacturing of textile, ICT Equipment, wood, glass, ceremics, mining, agri equipment and large scale agricultural operations
