Sylvain Bikorimana

Sylvain Bikorimana has completed coursework for a Master’s Degree in Data Science, specializing in Data Mining from African Centre of Excellence in Data Science. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and, since 2016, has completed professional certifications across 26 disciplines including:

  • Results-based monitoring and evaluation

  • Proposal writing skills

  • Project management for donor-funded projects

  • Grant proposal writing skills

  • Business and strategic plan development

  • Cost-benefit analysis and feasibility studies

  • Data management and analysis using Advanced Excel, SPSS, STATA and Python

  • Data visualization using Power Bi

  • Trained in Business Management and Development through Grow Movement in partnership with the Boston Consulting Group

His profession lies in research and resource mobilization, and he led different assignments including: 

  • Research Coordinator for a nationwide study commissioned by Caritas Rwanda in collaboration with Enabel, assessing factors influencing male engagement in family planning services within Catholic-affiliated facilities.

  • Research Coordinator for an assessment of Multiple Micronutrient Supplements (MMS) and Iron and Folic Acid (IFA) Supplements in Antenatal Care Services in 10 districts of Rwanda. A project awarded by Sight and Life Foundation and implemented in collaboration with RBC and UNICEF

  • Led assignment to conduct endline evaluation of the 2022 - 2026 strategic plan and development of new strategic plan 2027 - 2031 for Duterimbere 

  • Conduct an assessment of the Sustainability of Pottery and Poultry Cooperatives in Masoro and Buyoga Sectors, Rulindo District. A project funded by Suyana Foundation and implemented by Rwanda Youth Voice for Change

  • Served as Monitoring and Evaluation Assistant (Consultant) in the development of interactive dashboards with Power BI and ArcGIS for the International Union for Conservation of Nature.

  • Data collection and management for the review and documentation of Oxfam’s legacy in Rwanda, under the leadership of Economic Policy Research Network (EPRN).

  • Team Leader in the development of a four-year strategic plan for Sator Rwanda.

  • Data collection and management during the endline survey of the Coffee Innovation Fund (EPRN/GIZ).

  • Baseline survey on gender and green TVET, conducted under EPRN and awarded by Vanish Impact Group.

  • Data collection, management, and analysis for mapping opportunities for women-led SMEs to access financial products, an assignment awarded to EPRN by KVINNA.

  • Master Trainer contracted by Rwanda Institute of Cooperatives, Entrepreneurship (RICEM) to deliver training on microbusiness games to beneficiaries of Umwalimu SACCO.

  • Trainer for entrepreneurship and business management skills at the Catholic University of Rwanda. A project implemented in collaboration with RGB and UNDP

  • Since October 2022, I have been contracted by ICPAR to take minutes, capture resolutions, and prepare overall event reports. To date, I have crafted 26 reports.

  • Trainer for grant proposal writing skills delivered to University of Rwanda Ph.D. students

  • Since January 2020, jointly developed and submitted 28 grant proposals.

  • Supervised a consultancy assignment awarded by Oxfam to conduct the annual assessment of the Sustainable Livelihoods Horticulture Value Chains Project (HVC).

  • Supervised a nationwide consultancy assignment awarded by Caritas Rwanda to conduct the endline evaluation of the Increase Uptake of Family Planning in Co-Managed Catholic Health Facilities project.

  • Served as Co-Principal Investigator on three research projects at the University of Rwanda
